God did so many powerful things in his life in the next few years. It became clear to him that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the only way to have a true relationship with God. Corey accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He became the first Christian in his family ever.
Corey began to share the Gospel with his family. At first his parents were shocked, but later his mother and sister also believed in Jesus Christ. His father was having a hard time with all of this, but God visited him in a powerful vision and Hamdi also had an encounter with Almighty God. Today the entire Erman family are serving the Lord Jesus Christ. In 1995, God called Corey into the full-time ministry. He left his career in IT consulting and in February of 1996 returned to his homeland to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Corey received a baptism of fire at the beginning part of his ministry that changed his life. He spent his first two years in itinerant evangelistic ministry based out of Ankara. It was during this time that God began to show Corey His long-term plan and purpose for his ministry.
During his stay in Ankara, Corey met his wife Gulben. She had been saved a year before. After a two-year courtship and engagement, the two were married in Ankara on February 28th, 1998. Later, they attended The River Bible Institute together in Tampa, Florida. This was a time of powerful impartation of revival fire and vision in their lives. Together, they returned to Turkey to start a ministry center in Istanbul in 1999. God promised them a revival in Istanbul that would impact the nation and beyond.
Later, Corey's parents Hamdi and Leyla also received the call of God into the ministry and moved back to Turkey to serve in the ministry. They are the associate pastors at The River at Istanbul. Corey's sister Gulsun graduated from Rhema Bible Training Center in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She is married to Steve Hetherington of Erie, Pennsylvania, and they are involved in ministry together at Erie Christian Fellowship Church.
